Tomorrow will be Shrove Tuesday here, although it will take some myLotters another day to get there. Another popular name for it is Pancake Tuesday and it’s the day before Ash Wednesday which marks the beginning of Lent in the Christian calendar.
As Lent is traditionally a season of fasting, among other things, any food in the house was used up as much as possible before Ash Wednesday hence another common name for Shrove Tuesday was ‘Fat Tuesday’.
So we’ll be having pancakes tonight. This photo was taken a couple of years ago. Vince is an expert at tossing pancakes and hasn’t dropped one yet.

Way to go. Vince!
They have big Mardi Gras parties in New Orleans and Mobile, Alabama to celebrate. I think they throw beads and not pancakes.

@Tampa_girl7 It's funny to watch the faces of children when they watch him. I'm sure they think he is going to drop them on the floor.

If I went to the Centre tomorrow, I'd be having pancakes for lunch. But I went there today, so i won't.
I went today because it's sunny, tomorrow and the rest of the week it's supposed to rain.

@BarBaraPrz I think the pan probably isn't quite hot enough for that first one.

I remember my Dad used to refer to it as Fat Tuesday when he would talk to my Gramma.
I was just a young child, and although I remember it, I never ever knew what made 'that' particular Tuesday fat, and why he would discuss what she would be doing for that supper meal. I did understand from a very young age what Lent was and our Lenten practice and choosing something to give up.
Vince is a really good pancake flipper, but you are a great in-motion photographer to catch this shot.

I have never tried flipping a pancake. My guess is it would end up on the floor

I never really embraced all the Lent stuff but of course I got it double English and Latvian. This year to me seems such a late Easter coming in on April 20.

Vince is quite the pancake flipper!!
It's hard to believe that Ash Wednesday is already this week. It kind of snuck up on me.

@JudyEv that's quite a skill to be able to flip pancakes. Not something I've ever been able to do.
