When talking to someone face to face you get the message (in most cases) - they want to portray ,through their facial expressions, body language or tone of voice. But what about when you are online and talking to someone you can't see or hear? Enter the emoji. These can be helpful by softening a comment. They can help you express, joy, sadness, empathy, excitement and other emotions. Especially when a comment might be viewed in the wrong way by overly sensitive persons. Do you find them helpful at times? I do , and l will use them a bit more at the end of certain comments.

Yes emojis come in handy and I use them often when texting. I always end a conversation with any one of my kids or grandkids with a heart.

Yeah, I find emojis helpful too! They add emotion and clarity to messages, but too many can be a bit overwhelming—like every word has an emoji. No to abuse hahaha

I do not like to see them dotting every line. Overuse cannot be good.

I often use them but sometimes I am lazy and add the (lol) instead of the real thing

When my laptop was out of service some years ago l used a mobile phone which refused to accommodate emojis - so l was forced to substitute.

I've sometimes said something in jest and it's been taken literally. I use a lot of emojis now, especially here.

I love to use emoji's online. They do help to set the mood. I have seen things taken the wrong way many times. And this is one way to soften that up! It mainly happens when people do not know you in person, just online friends.

I do use them. I wish there was more variety. I don’t always find exactly what I’m looking for.

Yes, I like being able to use emojis here. And wish some people used them more often. There was one woman I used to talk with all the time who made a comment I couldn't figure out a couple of years ago. I asked whet she meant by the comment and she told me if I couldn't understand it, to just ignore it... To which several other people started using the laughing emojis at me... I blocked her. She complained to one of my friends and I sent the message back that when I asked for an explanation, I wanted to know what something meant, not getting laughed at. I left her blocked.

I actually use "emojis" in speech these days. I might say something like "Trump has been a great president so far. Whistling emoji."
