Are you old enough to recognise this man?

Are any of you old enough to have heard of Lech Walesa? He was Poland’s first democratically elected president since 1926 and the first to be elected by popular vote. He led the movement which ended Communist rule in Poland in 1989.
Walesa, along with 38 other Poles, signed a letter to President Trump, comparing Trump’s treatment of Volodymyr Zelensky at the Oval Office to Soviet secret police tactics. He drew many parallels between the meeting and the Poles’ own experiences under the former communist regime.
Walesa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1983 and served as president from 1990 to 1995. I’ll attach a link to the article. It makes interesting reading.

@JudyEv He was an American actor, did a lot of westerns, but if you saw the movie "Cocoon" he was one of the rejuvenated old guys.

I didn't know him. But it does seem that more leaders are starting to stand up to the orange fool this time

I disagree with that viewpoint comparing Trump's meeting with Zelensky with Communist tactics. What a ridiculous parallel printed by a left-wing news source The Daily Beast. The U.S. has contributed over 200 "billion" dollars to support the Ukrainian effort, and the war is a stalemate at best. The American people are tired of sending their dollars to Ukraine in a never-ending war. Over 1 million people have already been killed in this war on both sides, for Ukraine it's one-quarter of their population. When you're losing a war, you don't come into a meeting with the president and "dictate" the terms of peace.
The White House presser in the Oval Office was supposed to be a photo op on minerals deal agreement between the U.S. and Ukraine. For Zelensky to demand security assurances from President Trump in front of the media after he agreed in principle to the deal was arrogant. If he was not satisfied with the terms of the mineral agreement why agree to sign, and when the cameras were rolling create an embarrassing scene in front of the public. I thought Trump was very restrained until Zelensky showed no gratitude for the efforts of the United States to secure a ceasefire and eventually peace.
Zelensky is delusional if he actually thinks Ukraine can outlast Russia in this conflict and ultimately win. Without America's billions and billions of dollars to provide weapons support, Ukraine would have been defeated a long time ago. Zelensky should have come into this press conference with contrition, yet he continuously interrupted Trump when he was speaking, acting entitled to the aid the U.S. provided him.
By putting U.S. companies into Ukraine to mine minerals Putin now has to consider what happens if he endangers American lives by breaking the treaty and invading again. He should know Trump would not stand for this and will respond accordingly. And it provides a way for Ukraine to repay U.S. taxpayers back some of the monies Biden has given to them with no assurances this money would be paid back. Europe is paying Ukraine their money as a loan, but Biden just wrote Ukraine a blank check. Is it unfair to ask for some form of repayment. We are 37 trillion in debt ourselves and funding this war did not help!
To insinuate Trump and Vance were the aggressor at that meeting shows Walesa's ignorance of what Trump is trying to accomplish with this peace agreement. Walesa won a Nobel Peace Prize and Trump is trying to bring peace to Ukraine and Russia. Seems they have something in common. Europeans should want the killing to stop, and this president is the only one who has a chance to stop it.
The article you posted through Yahoo News is a "hit piece" on Trump lacking in any realistic perspective of what went on at the White House that day. If you believe this article has any validity to it by posting it, you have been completely misguided by mainstream media propaganda.
Of course, the Trump Derangement people will give you a thumbs up for posting this opinion article based on their hatred of Trump's personality (which at times I'm not fond of either). But one must base their judgements by
accomplishments not personal prejudices of his behavior.

@JudyEv There are many arrogant people in this world Trump and Zelensky are 2 of them. And you can probably add Putin and your leaders who imprisoned citizens who opposed the restrictions your government imposed during the Covid crisis.
Yet, there is another side of Trump in his private life most never hear about or see, a generous person who likes to help others. Many have attested and provided examples of this behavior and Trump expected nothing in return. But the level of attacks against him by the media can bring out the worst in most anyone.
Trump is not representing himself here, but American interests as a public figure. He is trying to mediate between 2 countries who hate each other. Not an easy situation, but he is putting himself out there for world peace. The meeting was unfortunate, but leaders must take into account each other's personalities and the best way to get along. Zelensky was the one in need of help and should have behaved accordingly. Judge not with your emotions about Trump (which I agree in some instances are ugly), but by his accomplishments.
In nearly all instances it is when Trump is attacked first, that he lashes out. He is not the agitator. As you hope people will come to realize his arrogance, I hope people will see what Trump is "trying to accomplish" with this peace deal, and not be swayed by the media attacks, who like you dislike his personality.

Yes, I remember him. I hope Trump took notice. It’s how many of us feel around the world. It was a shocking sight to see.
Talking of Poland, I’ve read today that their Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, has announced that all adult men will undergo military training because of the threat from Putin. It’s getting very worrying, and with the 80th anniversary of VE Day coming up too.

In fact, I checked on the latest news about him a couple of days ago.
His name is pronounced not as written in English
Trump is having a ball of a time hitting many under the belt and feels good about it too!
He heard Macron of France replying in French and admired his accent but said he had no idea what he was saying.
Another about British PM visit
