Normally, in alternating which year goes first, the 1955 song would be up first. But today’s 1955 song is someone you’ve all been waiting for, so I’ll make you wait five minutes longer.
Forty years ago, Men At Work were the Australian rage, but not my personal favorite Australian band. These guys were, and here they are from 1985!

No vegemites were harmed in the making of this song.
Actually, both bands (Men at Work and Hoodoo Gurus) have a “quirkiness” to them that I appreciate. This particular album was called Mars Needs Guitars! so what’s not to like!! This is a love song with a little Ramones drum opening (makes it even cooler).
Despite generally great reviews and terrific MTV videos, they never made it past the college rock circuit here in America. Oh, well. They were on my radar, and I’m glad I had it set that way.

Yes, I remember this song. Every time we went roller skating at one of the local skating rinks this song came up.

That was probably the Safaris’ instrumental song you heard (“Wipe Out”). But I’ll count ANY song you’ve heard as a win!

@FourWalls it wasn't an instrumental. The only reason I checked what you posted this time was because I remember a bunch of us skating would crash when the word "wipeout" came up in the song.
(I always check what you're posting but if nothing about it triggers a memory, then I don't listen to the songs.

I can’t fault people eating that stuff when I live in a region of America where they eat oysters and okra.

I don't think I have heard of this song. I was 5 years old though,

That’s as good an explanation as anything.
Not to mention that it wasn’t played outside of MTV and college rock stations.

I did not know that Hoodoo Gurus had a hit record in 1985 named Like Wow-Wipeout even though my nephew and myself like "Men At Work."

This was for the folks who watched (or, like I did, taped) “120 Minutes” on MTV back in the 80s.

@NJChicaa — I went for a walk in a park, so I’m just catching up.

Not quite the Surfaris, nor even the Ventures with their dueling drummers...

It’s an Aussie band, so they’re upside down!
