A Beautiful Saturday

Ahhh, so nice to have such a beautiful day, and on a Saturday no less. The past number of weekends have been rain and snow filled. Today there is no wind, no rain or snow falling from the skies. It feels great outside. I might go over to our son's place and see if the girls would like to go for a little walk. Willow just loves walking around the block, just for a walk and talk as she would tell you. I don't know where she comes up with these things, but they really melt their Nanny's heart. I have my meet & greet appointment with my new family doctor later on this afternoon. I am looking forward to meeting him/her. I wasn't able to decide their gender based on their name. Either way, they have to be board certified to set up shop in our country and province, so I will be in good hands I am sure.

Thank you, we had to go to the dump, so we did not have time to go and pop in to take the girls for a walk. I will spend next Thursday with them, and we will walk and talk then.

@LadyDuck Today I have to drop off a booster seat that we have that Willow used to sit in at the table. They are tall enough now that they do not need this. I already donated the high chair that Harper sat in.

I am sure you are a star in their world, and will like a walk and talk. Hope the visit with the doctor goes well. I don't think any doctor in these parts have Saturday hours, but it would be nice if they would do that.

Yesterday on the way home from playgroup, my husband pulled into the drive thru at McD's and the girls started chattering, where are we going Grandpa, this isn't the way home, and then Willow saw where they were and started to cheer because they were at McD's. They were both surprised and happy. They are such little know-it-all's when they are in the backseat, where are you going Grandpa this isn't the right way.....One day last week they begged him to stop here and pick me up to go with them to playgroup, but he told them that I was working. Next Thursday I will work a couple of hours and then he will surprise them and come by to pick me up and I will spend the rest of the day with them. I will make some butter pecan cupcakes and come back in the afternoon to pick them up and make some buttercream icing and take it all back to their place so that they can 'help' Nanny decorate them for our Easter gathering. I will let them do the official taste testing. I have waited so long for them to be able to 'help' me with things like that.

Oh, please let us know how it goes. I know how important it is. The little ones are just the best blessings. It’s hard to remember life before them.

Now that you mention it, it is hard to remember life before the twins. It wasn't as rich or comical. The doctor's appointment went very well. He is a very kind and thorough doctor, he did not rush me although he was running 45 minutes late. He will maintain what my previous doctor had started with quarterly visits and lab work. He is also concerned about my osteoporosis, and will order a bone density scan and then depending on the outcome he mentioned that he may put me on semi-annual shots for it. He was shocked when I explained to him that in Feb 2024 I had pneumonia and they found fractured vertebrae from coughing. He studied in the UK with my former doctor, and they began their working careers together there. My doctor left the UK and went to Ireland, he passed his boards there and began to practice there, but returned to England and they met up again. Shortly after that he passed his boards for Canada and came here. The new doctor has just joined him, and now he has gone out west to Alberta, for the health of his daughter.

@Juliaacv It sounds like he is in the perfect situation now. And I’m glad to hear he is digging deeper into your osteoporosis.

@AmbiePam Yes, I am relieved about that as well. I have bursitis in my left ankle, but I think that is an inaccurate diagnosis as my left leg swells up to the knee and I carry alot of fluid on it. I need for him to look into that. But I didn't want to overwhelm him at our first meeting.

It is amazing to me just how well most nanny's hearts do function when the grandbabies are so cute. How'd the appointment go?

Those little girls just melt my heart, and I cannot get enough of them. The years will come when they are busy with activities and friends, so I am enjoying this time. The new doctor was very friendly and welcoming. He was a classmate with my former doctor when they studied in the UK. He received my last lab results from the former doctor and discussed them with me. I thanked him 3 times for taking me on as a patient.

Thanks, the appointment proved to be well worth the wait. He was running behind, but I believe that people just ramble on and on because he is so patient and listens well without telling them that their time is up. I was very careful not to linger after the essentials were covered and asked if I was free to go.

@grenery8 Some ahead of me came out bragging to those of us in the waiting area that their time with the doctor was over 30 minutes, that wasn't necessary.

The Sunshine looks great ! The two kids are so cute & adorable! Quite a relief from Rain & snow. Here, some rains got the temperature down after dust storm and some rains. Hopefully you would have a good time with your new family doctor.

@Juliaacv It is very comforting when we are able to connect in a cordial way with a Doctor. I personally think that the subsequent trust factor in fact solves 50 to 60% of our problems.

It's a beautiful Saturday here in Florida as well, even though we had quite a bad hail storm last night. Your photo you posted is so cute, it reminded me of when my daughter was that age, she loved being pulled around in her wagon!

Isn't 3 just such a sweet age? They are not distracted by friends or being late for activities, they just belong to you and your heart. The twins love it when I pull them in the wagon, they only ever want me to pull it, but with 3 of them, they are a bit heavy. But you should hear them in that wagon together, Harper, on the right, chats up a storm and Willow will sing. People outside in their yards look and laugh when they see/hear them coming.

Thanks, and I am so relieved to hear from you, you know that I worry when you are not here. The new doctor was very welcoming and actually studied in the UK with my former doctor. The only downfall is that I often have to ask him to repeat things because of his accent. Eventually I will learn it, I did with my former doctor.

Aww having such young grandchildren around you indeed makes your day!! Kids are always so talktative...my mom says she misses me as a child...now that I have grown up I hardly talk about all those sweet nonsensical things I used to say as a child!

Harper is a little chatter box and she rambles on and on and so quickly. Willow, on the other hand, can be quiet and then have a good conversation with you. She is very mature for her young age.

Yes, and then getting the pronunciation down will prove challenging for me. He was a very welcoming doctor, this is a big undertaking on his behalf as the practice that I was a part of was quite big. This doctor studied with my former doctor in the UK and they began their working careers together there, until my former doctor passed his bar exams and began working in Ireland, but he returned to England before coming here to Canada.

It sounds like you’re having a lovely Saturday! It’s wonderful to enjoy such beautiful weather, especially after all the rain and snow lately. A walk with your son’s family and Willow sounds delightful—kids have a special way of brightening up even the simplest moments. As for your appointment with the new doctor, it's great that you're feeling positive about it. Meeting a new healthcare provider can be a bit nerve-wracking, but knowing they're certified should bring some reassurance. I hope the walk goes well and that you have a productive and pleasant meeting with your doctor later!
