Bush poetry and music

We’ve returned from our three nights away and will be sleeping in our own bed again tonight. The first night we drove our motor-home to Dinninup which is a very small town in the south-west of Western Australia. My brother-in-law was with us, and we spent the first night on his friend’s large block in the centre of town. There is an open shed on the property which you can see in the photo. If you can't make out what is in the background it's somebody's caravan. Around 30 people gathered for a bush poetry and music day. In the photo, my BIL is playing his autoharp while the organiser is playing the clarinet. We caught up with a few people that we hadn’t seen for a long time so that was good too. We enjoyed our time away but I think I’ll be in bed early tonight.

@JudyEv - I am sure of that. Every other Sunday we go to our place in Switzerland for a cappuccino and a croissant.

@LadyDuck That's nice but it sounds like you might be missing it a bit.

The town isn't too far from our old home town so it was a bit like going 'home'.

Nothing like sleeping in our own bed but in your case you are used to staying away.

I'm glad you had a good trip and catching up with old friends is always a plus, in my opinion... It's always nice getting home again to sleep in your own bed.

Nothing quite like sleeping in ones own bed again after being away from home. I can relate to that. We on the other hand are about to go to bed in our holiday accommodation - but we have slept in this bed before as we have been here before, twice before. So it's not really a strange bed. Sounds like you had a good time , thatsmthe main thing

@JudyEv I just had my best night's sleep in a long time. I enjoyed this bed 6 months ago when we were here and was hoping we would get the same cabin and we did. The bed in my pals motor home is quite comfy as well.

There’s something special about small-town gatherings—especially ones with music and poetry under an open shed
