Huge books are hard to read

I’m currently reading Melania Trump’s memoir Melania. Since hubby got me the hardcover collector’s edition the size of the book is huge. I think it’s 8.5 x 11. This makes it very uncomfortable to read. I can’t just hold it in my hands. So far what I’ve been doing is laying the book flat on the bed, then laying down myself on my side, using my hand for support before processing to read. I even tried to stand the book up instead. Neither option is comfortable. My hand gets tired from perching on it. Maybe I should try to sit down on the bed or a chair and place the book on my legs. Wonder if that would be better.

Yes too big for your delicate hands Lena. Could you get a book holder lol A maid to turn the pages and hold it for you?

I know what you're saying. You wouldn't think it would make much difference but a big book is much harder to read.

And in this one the text is in two columns. I find that weird. I don’t get why they did it that way. Was it because they needed to have a specific page count? I wanted to see if the regular hardcover text is normal and not in columns but preview of the book on Amazon is of kindle version, which is of no help. Maybe I’ll be able to find the original in a bookstore and compare.

I wonder if the library has the audio book. Barbra Streisand 's book was really big too and I was glad the library had the audio.

I’ve never listened to an audio book. I prefer physical books.

Well I haven't read a book in years but I can see where you are coming from with the big book thing. I have no idea what to suggest. Are you finding the book quite interesting. I bet she has got some stories which are really interesting

@lovebuglena That's the main thing. I actually think it would be interesting to hear what she has to say a out just anything really and especially the antics of her husband.

@Ineeddentures One thing I found weird was that the text in the book is in two columns. Wonder why they didn’t format it like a normal book.

Yesterday, I laid down on the bed, raised the head of the adjustable base, put the book on my legs, and read. It was better for my body but my legs almost fell asleep and my arms were getting a little tired. Maybe I should try putting the book on a table and sitting down on a chair and reading it that way.
