If you really want to know why there’s so much hate in the world, I will tell you. People getting up at THIS stupid hour of the day. Yes, I’ve been up since 5:15 to get my brother to the hospital for his surgery. We’ve been here 45 minutes and they just called him back. We could have both slept 45 minutes longer! Oh, well, while I wait for my niece and sister-in-law to arrive I’ll give you another song on my list of favorites from the year I was born. Linda? NO! #2: Alabam - Cowboy Copas Every time I bring Cowboy Copas up I say the same thing: he did more in country music than dying in a plane crash with Patsy Cline. A lot more. He had a career that started in the late 1930s in Cincinnati. The career had ups and downs (a lot of success in the 40s, not so much in the 50s), but when this song hit #1 in 1960 he was BACK. This was #1 for three months. It showcased Copas’ flattop guitar picking and good voice. It’s a fun little song that seemed to be about as opposite of the other #1 songs of 1960 (“El Paso” and “Please Help Me I’m Falling” in particular). Maybe one day they’ll recognize this and put him in the Hall of Fame. I mean, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame finally inducted Warren Zevon, so there’s always hope, right?
