Performance evaluation.

I know this is an odd question, but have you ever been too good at a job you had? When I am working, I give 100 percent. I have always been that way. When I am not working, I drink beer and sing the Rodeo Song and Jeannie Needs a Shooter. . But never mind that. Today I had my performance evaluation at Guitar Center. I am glad they have objective criteria, like student retention, student/parent satisfaction, etc. So now I have a raise, and will earn an extra $200/month or so. It won't make me rich, but it will help me deal with the recent increases in food costs. But here's the grumpy part. Have you ever been the wrong ethnicity, or the wrong gender, or simply been so good at what you do that you engendered resentment? It has happened to me a handful of times, and I have not forgotten it. I am glad to be in a position where I am judged by the quality of my work, and nothing else.

I am glad you had a good evaluation and a raise. I have been very good at the job I had. A big and famous Swiss bank wanted to hire me, they did not know I worked for/with my husband. I declined of course, but I was very tempted considering the salary.

@TheHorse - Do not change the way you live if you are happy.

Understood. But I sometimes live by "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

When I first got out of college (it was a 3 trimester program), I was only 18. When the interviewer found out I was only 18, (they can't do that today), he lowered the starting wage by $50 per month. Back then, that was a lot.

I like working for a place that seems "professional."

Glad your evaluation went well and resulted in a salary increase (even if it won't make you rich). Nope can't say I was discriminated at any job I had but I always wished I had been paid more.

Being discriminated against is...weird. Uncomfortable. I am glad you have not experienced it.

That's great that the evaluation went so well. A bit of extra money never goes astray.

We are now in a stage where equality across all genders is being practice. There are still gaps that we need to address but it is good that it is in place and we are working in filling up the gaps. Gender and Development program is being taught to everyone. It's good to know that you found a place that focuses on what you can deliver. Congratulations!
