Vitamin D and the sun

A lot is being talked about how the sun helps with one's vitamin D The question is which time is best and does one have to expose oneself to get the best effect.
I do not suppose one should be in their bikini to get a good exposure At the same time, how else will the sun play its role?
I take strolls in the garden well clothed and hope there will be some effect but I am not sure .
Any ideas?

That's a good question. I sometimes take Vitamin D in a vitamin or supplement, but I used to have a sun roof I used to get it now, I have my window open when it is cool enough.

I think the intensity of the sun matters but one should avoid ultra violet rays

Yes I have to be covered also..or else I get the things the DERMO needs to remove.

I think certain hours it is safe to expose but how much to expose is what I want to know.

After I had skin cancer, doctors told me to try to stay out of the sun so the skin cancer wouldn't come back. I take Vitamin D supplements since I don't get enough of it from the sun.
The more of your skin the sun can touch and the longer you're out in the sun, the better your body will be at making the Vitamin D your body needs.

you are right unless you expose your body the sun rays is not going to give you vitamin D. But again it is better get the sun at around 8 am to 9 nine. in calcutta in may and june after 9 temperature goes to 37 degree or more. Skin will get burned
