I have used public transport .....buses....since i was at school, all through college and two jobs. It is cheaper than using a car and i have lived and worked near popular and well etablished routes.
I was looking forward to getting my oap ....old age persons....bus pass when I reached 60.
However, I recently found out that I will not get this at 60, but will have to wait until I retire. The current age I an able to retire is 67 or 68. I daresay that they will increase it again before i reach that age anyway.
As someone who has paid into the system all my life I feel saddened and angry that those who never used the busses are able to get their passes earlier.
What do you think....
Should everyone get a free bus pass.....
Should those who have paid for all their life get a free bus pass
Should frfee bus passes be given at 60 or on retirement

You're lucky to have public transportation... If you live in a small city in the US, like I do, you either own a car, a bicycle or walk if you want to go somewhere. We don't even have any taxis here.
If the people never used the bus get it early, how does that help them? I presume they still won't use the bus. Why does it matter to you? You aren't losing anything because they get a bus pass they won't use earlier than you get one. If I'm not understanding something here, please explain it to me.
I don't have a horse in that race so shouldn't have an opinion, either.

The thing is people who never used the buses get their free pass and suddenly they DO use it. Never paid a penny before but when its free they use it. I do know many people who have done that.

@Traceyjayne I would say good for them. Them using the bus for free still doesn't affect you, though.

Since the retirement age keeps going up I think they should at least offer a discounted bus pass for those who turn 60. Sorry to hear that you have to wait now until you retire to get your free buss pass.

I agree some sort of discount would be better than nothing. I have used the buses regularly .... five or six days a week, every week.....for almost 50 years.

Currently the buses--which I also take for transportation--in my town are free. Before that, the senior fee for a bus trip was .60 cents USD.

I think once you get to 60 it wouldn't hurt for you get free bus passes.
