A hack that I am going to try

I have read in a few places that adding a few ice cubes to your washer can help with stain removal and also help to clean your washer. I am curious about that hack. The other one is to put ice cubes in your dryer to help dewrinkle, I am sure it gives your clothes kind of a steamer effect. However, I put clothes in the dryer to dewrinkle in the first place. I don't need them steamed. Too bad I already washed some clothes this morning or I would do the ice cube thing now.

I have always run a cup of white vinager through my washer every month on a small load cycle. It's supposed to keep it fresh and clean, and I've not had a problem doing that, I've done it for years. I hadn't heard of the ice cube thing. But my clothes are very wrinkle free and like you they don't need to be steamed.

Ice cubes? Interesting - I would think that would give you an extra cold wash . I do baking soda and white vinegar. I have had to dewrinkle a small amount of items before . . . I think I read online about throwing in a small damp wet towel with the items so that's what I've always been doing.

All I can think of is that the ice cubes are mildly abrasive and that is why they would clean the washer. Back in ancient history when I worked at a restaurant we cleaned our coffee carafe's with ice, salt and lemon wedges. You migh t try applying lemon juice to the stained sweater and drying it in the sun.

Sounds scary, it might rust the pipes. Come on that was funny, get it because Ice will melt and turn into water. Let us know if it works.

3 ice cubes won;t rust the pipes, plus I have PVC pipes. Also, it actually helps clean your machine supposedly.

I am guessing it will do nothing, but if I can find the sweater that has a stain on it, I will try it with that.

I have never heard of the ice cube gig before. I could g out them in a dryer, as we dont have a dryer. They cost way too much to run.

@Ineeddentures Maybe your electricity costs more than here, I have no idea. No one here hangs their clothes. I could easily have a line in the back because no one sees back there, but too many trees. I could just see bringing in something with a tick or a spider on it..No, Thanks. I have hung towels over the railing though.

@snowy22315 They are here. Electricity prices have gone through the roof and using a dryer is out of the reach of many

I've heard of the ice cubes in the dryer trick, but I usually just put a wet cloth in with my clothes that I am tumbling quickly to get the wrinkles out. I also still have a bit of downy wrinkle-free that I use in the dryer when I dry a couple of items that wrinkle easily. They pulled that product off of the market a few years ago due to the chemicals.
