This is weird…

My mom had issues with her gas meter last year. She kept getting estimated readings and they weren’t able to get remote reading even after they installed something on the old meter. Finally they just replaced the meter. I don’t remember the exact date but I think it was November of 2024 that it was installed.
After they recalculated the bill back then—with readings I provided—she ended up with a credit of a $246 and change. Since then if a bill comes it only says that she has the $246 credit and not to pay. There are no previous or current readings included on any of the bills. And it never says anything needs to be paid.
This has been going on since November. When are they finally going to send her a bill with actual meter readings and telling her she has to pay? It’s great not having to pay anything but this seems weird. All these months passed and she doesn’t have to pay anything and the credit still exists on her account. No meter readings on any of the bills. Does the new meter have to reach a certain reading before they can issue a bill with actual readings on it and calculate what needs to be paid?

I have no idea about this Lena.
Our power companies don't know what they are doing either.
I hope your mum gets it free forever

Wouldn’t that ge awesome! What I don’t want to happen is she finally gets a bill and it’s for all these months she was never billed for and she has to pay thousands.

@Ineeddentures I hope this new meter won’t have issues being read remotely. That would probably make the bill even higher.

@lovebuglena
That sounds like it may be what happens to tell you the truth.

I should probably contact them as it’s my account. Haven’t caved in yet.

That’s what I’m worried about. Perhaps I should contact them as the account is on my name.

@lovebuglena Yes, I think I would before it causes more problems.

You should contact them as soon as possible. Their computer is stuck and your mom is going to be the one paying a huge bill! It's definitely their fault but that won't erase any of the bill she owes!

That’s probably the best thing to do.
