Vegetables are a food of choice for anyone who wants to live a healthy life. With the increasing demand of veggies, farmers are now growing them without much care on the side of consumers. A recent study in our country revealed that Kenyans especially in urban areas consume vegetables with high levels of heavy metals such as lead. This poses a serious health danger to the urban population. It is alleged that soils where the veggies are grown have been polluted. Cases of roadside vegetable farms are also believed to be the cause of the problem. As the veggies which are unfit for human consumption still access the markets, blame games between and among stakeholders remain the order of the day!

I personally practice organic farming on my farm and discourage use of fertilizers and chemicals.

@LadyDuck That was very good of you. Fertilizers degrade land in the long run because they kill living things in the soil. Those living things are very essential

That's a dilemma. The waste has to be removed but, where to? I hope the state authorities find a way forward soon.

You are right, we do not have safe places to grow plants safely. Harvests come with poison in them
