We've made a start on the balustrade

You might have trouble making sense of the lower of the two photos. The top image shows the front porch of our niece’s house which we’re looking after while she is away. Some of the uprights of the balustrade are missing and others have come away from the top horizontal rail.
We were lucky that a friend had the timber and the tools to cut six new uprights and today we painted them. The lower photo shows the uprights hanging from the clothes-line while the paint dries. There is a screw in the top of each piece and it’s tied to the line. There are actually seven pieces as one had been lying in the dirt for ages.
Once we have it back together again, the whole thing will get a coat of paint. So it’s what’s known as a ‘work in progress’ and hopefully I’ll have more photos as we progress.

It's impossible to make out the seventh upright that was in the dirt
Just a few lighter comments... I mean to say they all look very new to me.
We don't have that kind of a house where there are such uprights, because in that place we have built a solid compound wall. I always wish to have one such house. But I think that's not the way here to have houses built that way. And I don't know for what reason. But this one really looks very beautiful.

@JudyEv Yeah. That's what I was referring to. It's so neatly done that I can't figure out which are the six new ones. And which is the seventh old one. (I would prefer calling old to dirty
).
I would love to see the photographs of how the boundaries are done. I'm always fascinated by such houses. We don't get to even see them here.

What you can see here are the six new ones and the dirty one which have all been painted. This house has another boundary fence between it and the road. That is built of limestone bricks and ironwork. I'll try to take a photo of it.

@abhi_bangal Some of our houses are fenced right round but some are only fenced on three sides, leaving the front open to the road. I'll try to get photos soon.

Does your niece know that you are repairing her house?
