Dentist day! I always recommend that you take a couple of Tylenol an hour or so before your appointment. It’s my belief that they deliberately try to hurt you for money (“Oh, does that hurt? Well, we’ll fix that. That’ll be $400, please.” ). I always play “Comfortably Numb” when he has to do dental work. But not today. It’s 1975, and it’s time to remember a sadly forgotten great tune from 50 years ago. Sweet Maxine - The Doobie Brothers One of the great things about the Doobie Brothers was their ability to give you all kinds of music. Their big hit from this timeframe was that haunting, beautiful, harmony-filled “Black Water.” Then they could rock your socks off with songs like this. Yes, this was released as a single. And it bombed. Well, it did reach #40, making it a “top 40 single,” but it was no “Black Water” (which reached #1). That is terrible, because I really like this song. It almost made the top ten on this list. Enjoy it, probably for the first time in fifty years. Sweet Maxine Written by Patrick Simmons and Tom Johnston Recorded by The Doobie Brothers From Stampede, 1975 She was born with it in her soul:

Never heard this one before. I have a dentist appointment tomorrow...cleaning and replacing a lost filling.

Take a couple of Tylenol (because they won’t thin the blood to cause easier bleeding) and hour or so before you go. Definitely eases the pain.

@LindaOHio — I remember that from attending my aunt’s pre-surgery lecture: people with artificial joints are more susceptible to infection. I probably won’t be able to have any hip or knee replacement because I have an immunity problem to begin with.

@FourWalls I had to reschedule. I have to take 4 antibiotic pills before I go to each dental appointment. That's to keep an infection from starting. Has something to do with my replaced knee and hip. I guess if the infection goes into the bone, you have to be hospitalized.

Hope your trip to the dentist doesn't hurt your mouth or your wallet. Familiar with the Doobies but not this song

The VA does my dental work so it only hurts my teeth. I figured this song wouldn’t be remembered. Came and went quickly.

@FourWalls At least the VA pays for your teeth. I've had some pretty hefty dental bills in my life

Ouch! I hope the dentist visit went well. Was it at 2:30? I have so many root canals done that I have most work carried out now without getting numbed up. Doesn’t seem right. The Doobie Brothers didn’t do well here, and I don’t remember this song. I heard this one from 1975 on Boom radio today and thought of you! Don’t ask me why.

The Doobie Brothers made great music. A question just came to mind and I have not seen it online, How many brother groups have their been?

Lots, some of which were actually brothers! The Doobies and the Righteous Brothers were not. The Everlys were.

Always liked the Doobie Bros. I had their greatest hits on an 8 track player
