Course, that is only Denver and since the suburbs surrounding have their own laws, this may not apply everywhere here.
But good, this may start a trend now.
The new law says slumlords who rent uninhabitable dwellings, have to relocate and pay for relocation for the tenant.
I have absolutely no sympathy for those who choose to not upkeep their properties and rent them that way to people.
Luckily, I have a nice place to move this time.
Are there many uninhabitable dwellings in your place nearby?
The health department can now force landlords to relocate tenants when conditions are unsafe or uninhabitable.

When the landlords get the places fixed up - they will charge more. Hence people who desperately need somewhere to live own a very low income will accept what they have to offer - with no complaints.
Glad that something is being done about it and glad that you found somewhere suitable.

Yes the rent will raise, but Denver will keep them in check. Thanks for understanding Kandase.

Not in my city, to the best of my knowledge... Every place Pretty and I looked at when we moved seven years ago looked fine. They were just priced out of our range at the time. (They all wanted my income to be 3 times what the rent was and I worked at Walmart.) We were lucky to find the house we rented. It had stood empty for a year so the landlady really wanted to rent it.

@RebeccasFarm Yes, I think so, too. We thought it was too small and cramped when we moved in but it's fine now.

@RebeccasFarm .......Maintenance has to do a preliminary walk-through first, so I think we are okay. It's the HUD one that worries me. I just posted explaining it all.

I am not sure yet Marie..the first week of June hoping..I am waiting on fools to finish paperwork..you know how that is. Also my son's surgery is June 6th, so I am stressing as I hope they will keep him in for at least one night while moving is going on..
