Charlotte Davis was with her fiancée Alejandro Gonzalez in their third floor balcony in Milwaukee Wisconsin on Mother's Day when smoke filled the hallway when a woman whose name was not released asked the couple asked them to help for her one year son Mouhammad who was with his mom on the fourth floor balcony asking Alejandro to catch her son.
Alenjandro did catch Mouhammad after his mom dropped him from the fourth floor balcony safely.
Alejandro then went to the fourth floor balcony to throw a mattress to the courtyard below. The mom then threw her son from the fourth floor balcony to the mattress below before she jumped from the balcony to the mattress below.
The firefighters and first responders were able to rescue the persons who were able to escape the fire inside of their apartment that was burned.
The majority of the victims of the fire are currently staying at an American Red Cross shelter grateful to be alive.
According to the Milwaukee fire chief, it will be at least one week before residents can return to the apartment.

I would be scared myself if I had to jump off of a balcony myself.

Fires are so scary. I'm glad to hear Mouhammad was caught by mom.

A jump from the fourth floor, is a long distance to fall, and they were very lucky that that one mattress was enough to break their fall, as to me, it would not seem to be enough. It must have been a thick mattress.

The mattress had to be very thick.

Wow! I would think that you wouldn't survive a jump to a mattress from the 4th floor. They are very lucky.
