Swimming

We were greeted by this pair of swans before we went in the gate.

I went swimming today, just to get rid of the rustiness. It has probably been thirty years since I actively swam, as opposed to just playing a little in the water, or teaching my student. Probably I should go every day to get back into shape. I feel really good this afternoon, although it is a little cold and cloudy and rainy. Where I am swimming is an indoor pool. I can go swim rain or shine. I practiced four different strokes today. I got ready to do a length of the pool with a fifth stroke and both my calves knotted up. I will stretch and warm up more before I do it again. The picture is of the trumpeter swans at the David Traylor Zoo in Emporia, Ks. Obviously, they are swimming, but when not underwater they are very vocal.

It's a nice picture. I hope you enjoyed yourself swimming today. You might want to eat some bananas or pickles before going swimming next time. Both help with leg cramps.

It's a good idea to start swimming regularly. It's about the best exercise you could do. Swimming birds always fascinate me as their legs look to be too far towards the back. I keep thinking they're going to topple forward into the water but of course they never do.

Well done on going swimming. I would love to do that again. It is over 30 years since I had a proper swim. Sorry your calves knotted up - next time they won't as you will have warmed up properly.
