How I spent Memorial Day weekend

Friday it did nothing but rain all day. Around dinner time my husband asked me if I wanted to go his friends pond some people were getting together there. My little one enjoyed the fire that did an okay job keeping us warm on a chilly evening.
Saturday I had to run to the store and we drove by the library. My little one wanted to go so we stopped and she played with some kids while I picked out books. We came home and she had me read all 14 of them to her.
We stopped at the thrift store to see my oldest daughter and while I shopped my oldest got my youngest a cup of ice cream.
Since one of the books I picked out was about making a pie my little one and I made a Lemon Cream Cheese Pie. I forgot my hand mixer broke the last time I used it so I had to mix it by hand. It could have been worse at least I got it smooth.
My husband took the dogs out that evening and the pups took off. He wound up being gone for 5 hours looking for them. Now they will be wearing tracking collars from now on.
Sunday I did nothing but clean and drop off a gift to my sisters house for her birthday.
Monday I took my little one to a Memorial Day parade where we met up with my parents and my sister and her kids. There were race cars in it this year which was a fun addition. Afterwards there was a ceremony my son and the rest of the school band played in.
In the afternoon we took the boat out for the first time this year. My little one was too noisy to catch any fish but we had a nice time.
On the way home we happened to drive by a new ice cream place so got out and got some and that helped keep my little one awake. A late nap would have made for a very late bedtime.

It sounds like a decent Memorial Day weekend. How is your son doing these days? Does he have plans for after graduation?

@snowy22315 he’s still the same, hates me and is very irritable. He walks to town twice a day wants to work for the post office delivering mail on foot. He has a year to think about it but he needs to think of other things as well the post office only needs just so many workers.

@shaggin Poor kid, and poor you. He doesn't hate you. He may resent some things about you, but he is no picnic either. You"re his mother and have the right to be treated with dignity and respect

@snowy22315 I agree on the last part but for the moment he does hate me. His sister was tough at that age as well and we get along wonderful now that she’s on her own and can do her own things and see life isn’t as easy as she thought living home. She said in my Mother’s Day card she misses seeing me everyday and I feel the same way. I can only hope her brother and I will be close like that again when he’s an adult. It’s hard to love someone so much and watch them struggle so bad.

@Lindaohio quieter week this week then last but still good. My little one and I are home for the most part today but then will be out again the next two days when we will be having nice weather before a rainy weekend.
