Smoke and haze from Canadian wildfires is here

Well, we did have some warning. This is not my area's first rodeo on the wildfire smoke thing, but it arrived earlier than expected. I couldn't sleep...my eyes would not quit watering. When the sun came up this morning, it looked like a dense fog--but it really wasn't foggy, it's the haze from the smoke. It appears we may have this several days, so I had better get used to it.
Here I am moaning about all the haze and smoke, and I am sure people lost property from wildfires and more will lose property, hopefully not lives. But this is hard on some people who have breathing issues, I know, so if you are in the path of this, heads up!

And they’re also expecting the Sahara dust to arrive soon.

We never know what's next for our weather, etc. until it actually happens. Hopefully, you won't be affected by this. Were today's tornado(s) close to you?

@MarieCoyle We just had one pass thru .not super dramatic. The drama here was me setting off the smoke detector .actually multiple ones since they are all wired together

Oh, dear. I hate it when those things go off.
I kept my house closed up today, to try to keep the house smoke free. I thought about mine going off, too, which was the main reason I kept the house closed up.

@MarieCoyle - We had a thunderstorm while we were having lunch. Soon after the sun showed up and we rushed out for a quick grocery shopping. Now it rains again.

Possible storms on Tuesday night and Wednesday. I am hoping for rain to get rid of this smoke stuff . But there are so many wildfires raging right now, I am sure after the rain there will be more fires at some point.

@MarieCoyle I know how you feel since when it rains heavily, it scares me to have a home blackout.

Honestly, George...I shouldn't really complain about the smoke, when there are people in the fire's path, in danger, etc. It's just hard to cope with it when it gets too strong and thick.

As Four Walls said, the Sahara dust will be arriving here too. I hope it clears up for you soon.

You may get some as well as from the Sahara. They said today that it would be widespread.

I hope it gets better soon. I have not experienced such, but I can just imagine how difficult it would be to breathe fresh air when you want to. I hope scientists can discover a substance that could dissolve smoke.
Stay safe and take care, Marie.

Thanks,Jenaisle.
Not to mention there are many people who have chronic respiratory illnesses, and they suffer the most.

It's made me thirsty. That and the eye thing and some sneezes later, I will survive. It's just not fun.

Over the past few years, we have had quite a few days that we were affected by wildfire smoke. So, we will probably have more in the future. And yes, air quality can play havoc on a person.

If it gets any worse I probably will not be out and about much. I just hate that even with my allergy meds, my eyes are so affected by it. But hey...like I said, it's hard on everyone, especially in the area of the fire.
Take good care!
