Whee! I felt it!

No not that. The minor earthquake that hit just after noon today. I was at my desk. There was no "truck hit the building" jolt at the beginning of our usual 4.2 earthquakes. Just a slight rocking or swayng motion. The building did not creak. I guessed 3.0. They're saying it was 3.2, with the epicenter about 2 miles Northeast of me. Have you ever felt an earthquake? Photo (if I can find it) is of Eeyore atop my Acoustic Research turntable after a slightly larger quake a few years ago. He was not hurt.

@TheHorse They were allowing fracking in the southern part of the state a few years ago and we felt it up here. They stopped and then started again. There was a couple of reports earlier this year of minor ones again. I think they have stopped the fracking again.

Several women have told me I am a great lover. I always respond with the truth: "I practice a lot when I am alone."

Yes, I have felt several earthquakes, the strongest was the one that hit Friuli (in Italy) in 1976. It was 6.5 and we felt it in Milan. Another in Monte Carlo 3.8, many books fell from the bookshelves.

@TheHorse It was a very bad earthquake, a lot of destruction, Milan is 200 miles from the epicenter, but we could feel it very well.

@LadyDuck I still lived in Iowa when the "big one" struck here.

Nope, I've never felt one and hope I never do. I have enough trouble staying on my feet without the earth moving. I'm glad it was a relatively mild one.

Feeling an earthquake in a skyscraper could be weird.

The closest I've come to an earthquake is back when I used to go to Cape Canaveral and watch NASA launch Space Shuttles. The ground would shake like you wouldn't believe when those shuttles lifted off. You'd see the shuttle lift off, then a few seconds later the ground would start shaking, and then a few seconds after that you would hear the roar of the launch, followed by a sonic boom a few minutes later. It was pretty incredible.

Glad Eyeore made it. We had that big East coast quake centered in this county in 2011 I think it was. That was pretty dramatic. I don't usually feel the smaller ones, but I don't think we have had anything larger than a 2 point something since then.

This week, I thought I was feeling dizzy, and I was worried about my health, only to learn that it was an earthquake - a mild one, too. I am glad no one got hurt.

@TheHorse It was like I thought that I was dizzy and about to faint but it was not the case as people around me felt the same too. It was only awhile later that we heard that there was an earthquake in Indonesia

Oh goodness, I am glad you are okay, that it wasn't worse. I felt a 20 to 30 second tremor many years ago when I was visiting Montana.

I'm glad Eeyore was not hurt. The one earthquake I felt was miles away but all the cups in the dresser rattled. I had no idea what was happening.

@TheHorse It was in 1968 at Meckering and measure 6.5. Meckering is about 80 miles from Perth but at the time I was another hour further south.

Yes. I've been through two 5.0 quakes. The more recent one felt like someone came behind my chair and hit it with all their strength. Very strange. I'm glad Eeyore was not injured.

5.0 would be pretty jerky, especially if you are near the epicenter.

@TheHorse I think I told you my husband was down in the salt mine when it happened. He saw and felt the wave go through the ceiling of the cut. I was panicked because I was topside working in the office. The door jamb was moving side to side. I thought my husband was in grave danger; but he was OK.
