I, for one, will be thankful when the month of May is over with. It has been a disappointment as far as the weather is concerned. Quite windy, cool and wet in our region. It doesn't really make you want to spend time outside, hopefully that will change during June.
I have my flowers planted, and at least they seem to be enjoying the cool weather. The petunias are doing very well, and full of blooms. I hope that the maintain come the summer's heat.
A friend of ours is leaving to see her family in the Philippines early next week. She was making some spring rolls and other goodies but made too much for her husband to eat, he is staying home as he has to work. She gave 3 dozen spring rolls to us as well as some delicious beef stew. On a cool night like tonight, I think that we will have some beef stew for supper. We had some of both the pork as well as the beef spring rolls for supper last night, I froze the rest of them.

Very pretty I have a hanging basket of begonias. Enjoy your spring rolls and beef stew. They sound yummy.

Thanks, I wanted red and white for the colour of our flag and petunias so that they would attract the bees for pollination.
There isn't alot of stew, when I looked at it there won't be enough for the both of us for a meal, so I will make something else for supper and eat little dishes of the stew over the course of a few days next week on my lunch.

Thank you.
The back row of flowers, which is just a nice green backdrop, will develop flowers come August, they are a hazy pinkish purple.
I love the red begonias, the blooms actually do quite well as a float in water in a dish.
Yes, we will miss her while she is gone for 2 months, and look forward to her return.

I am sorry that the pollen season is in your area.
We do not have that as of yet.
The flowers are growing a little more every day, today I see that the petunias are covered in blooms.
We will go out this afternoon to the nursery and see what they have left. Ron suggested some marigolds so that they keep the mosquitos away.

@Juliaacv - Tomorrow we expect thunderstorm it will calm down the pollen. Today is a bit better than yesterday. I hope marigolds will help you, in my case they did nothing to keep the mosquitoes away.
I even planted citronella, but they did not seem to care.

I have the same weather here today as you do.
We are hoping for weather like you had yesterday late next week.
But even that is too hot for this area for this time of the year.
There is no mediocre weather anymore is there?
Everything is so extreme, no breezes it seems like it is more winds than not, and not warm, but hot, not a shower of rain, but a downpour or flood.

Thank you.
Red and white are the colours on our flag, and they are a popular choice for summer flowers.
The back row come up each year, they are autumn sedum and will have a purplish pink flower on them in late August.
I'm sure that you are looking forward to seeing your niece's happiness when she arrives home and sees the improvements that you and Vince have made.

Thank you, I am pleased that the flowers are doing so well with the cool weather.
Yes, our friend leaves in a few days.
She is such a good cook, we love the food from her country that she prepares for us.
Enjoy your time at home in the Philippines when you go.

@thelme55 I do not know the names of the foods. There is one that has rice, pork and vegetables and you spoon it into a little piece of seaweed. I have had the little wonton wrapped pork and beef stew.
I think that it is the way that some of it is slow cooked and of courses the spices that I love so much.
That is beautiful that you will represent your parents at the wedding by walking your sister down the aisle.
My friend is going back home this Wednesday and returns in August, hopefully with her sister and or her father with her. Her own family, which is large, is not the same since her mother's passing a few years ago. She is quite emotional thinking about the long flight with her 2 young children, and arriving, but with the knowledge that her Mom will not be there to welcome her from her flight.

@Juliaacv It sounds a Korean food that you mentioned with seaweed. I think Shomai is that one packed in wanton wrapper. Those food are delicious.
Yes, I am looking forward to that wedding. I am honoured to be walking her to the aisle.
I can relate to that hassle your friend will be having in her journey home. I had that experience too going back home without parents waiting for you to arrive. At least her father is still there.

@Juliaacv I ruined a package of Crab Rangoon. It said oven or air fryer; and I put them in the microwave. I cooked them about a minute too long; and they were as hard as a rock. Sigh.
