Senator Joni Ernst has infuriated Americans on both sides of the aisle with her sarcastic "apology"

The Republican senator from Iowa initially offended her constituents and critics alike by replying "well we are all going to die" when an enraged resident of her district yelled out "people are going to die" in reference to proposed Medicaid cuts. What a callous and politically stupid response. Of course the backlash was swift so she posted a video apology the next day filmed as she walked through a cemetary. She initially seemed contrite but then she went on to say that she was sorry for assuming that everyone in the audience realized that we all "will perish from the Earth" and she then said she was thankful that she didn't have to get into the Tooth Fairy. Seriously? Is this the best the GOP can do? She was already on thin ice after voting to confirm DUI hire Pete Hegseth. It will be interesting to see if she can survive her next election. What kills me is that I am an American with a job who can pay the bills and who has private health insurance. I'm not on Medicaid. That being said I don't begrudge paying towards it or health care for those who need the assistance. I'm a Democrat and I care about those on the other side of the aisle who will lose their Medicaid. Stupid MAGA cult members gleefully cheer for this kind of crap when they are the very ones who are dependent upon it. They are cutting their own noses off to spite their faces just to try to "own the libs". The 2 parties are NOT the same.

Just nasty. I'm older and don't want anybody messing with Medicare, either.

@NJChicaa It’s lovely when politicians speak before thinking - you find out what they really think. We had a government minister visit the special needs school my daughter used to attend. Daughter has Down syndrome and the minister asked my wife how long our daughter had had Down Syndrome for!!!! The minister got a sharp elbow in the ribs from her aid but still didn’t realise what she’d said.

Such a stupid remark. She obviously has no idea how the other half/three-quarters lives.
