Time flies

"Time flies"- if you think about it, that makes 'time' sound like an object- like a window that has flies on it. Anyway, we've had Moxe dog for around a year now. I guess it is past time for her to test the local waters. Dog trainers talk about dogs growing into "the terrible twos." Adolescence in dogs. Moxe is there. She hears me call her- looks at me like she is saying Really?? And then zips away. Tonight I found that a delivery driver had left the front gate not latched properly. Barking Rufus but no Moxe. Two very nice neighbor women pointed out the direction that Moxe had galloped off to. Yup. Moxe heard me call her name, looked at me and basically said, "Later, Mom! Later!" I went into the house and brought out a box of dog biscuits. She finally decided to zip around the neighbor's house and allowed me to grab hold of her collar. Tonight I went to the Chewy site and ordered a 20 foot leash. Moxe will go on that leash until she learns the word "Come!" Teens these days..... Even furry teens.

They all go through this 'testing the waters' stage I guess. Even dogs.

Sounds like our dogs. I miss them; but I couldn't physically go chasing after them anymore.

@sallypup We have a fenced in yard; but it's about 3/4 of an acre. Too big to chase.

Ny former dog would usually come when you called, but he would usually wag his tail and take his good, old time coming in

@jstory07 I don't want Moxe to get hit by a car or the cops haul her in to the Shelter.

I am glad Patch border collie is past most of that. In fact she never was too bad about it when she got out. Most of it was in the house

Your post made me smile, and shake my head in sympathy. Having a little dog go through that is one thing, but handling a big dog testing authority is something else!

You know she's just wanting you to chase after her. I'm sure she'll learn quickly.
