What's with the sun this morning?

It's supposed to be sunny today but when I look out my window, I see a bright red ball in the sky. There are no clouds obscuring it but the sky isn't blue, looks overcast even. There are no splashes of sunlight on the ground, no shadows. It is 14°C/57°F at 7am.

I suspect but don't know for sure, that your sky is full of smoke from the out-of-control-fires burning in Canada. That will cause the sun to look like a red ball. I hope the air is still clear enough for you to breathe without problems.
You know I worry about you.

It's now bright yellow/white at 7:35 but still no shadows outside, just the one my hand is casting on the keyboard. The air seems fresh enough though, no problem breathing it.
I just checked the forecast and it does say "hazy".

@BarBaraPrz I'm glad you aren't having any trouble breathing the air. I'm surprised it only shows "hazy" for your area. The smoke from those wildfires is coming clear down into the US again this year. I hope it doesn't make it to my area. Pretty and I both had trouble with it last year.

Wildfire smoke. There are some amazing time-lapse videos of the sun sinking into the smoke haze and turning beet red.

@BarBaraPrz — I know. So’s the Sahara Desert and we’re getting bombarded with their sand/dust.

We'll be having showers tomorrow (Thursday).
Did that mini-tornado drop a mini-Kansas farmhouse on anyone?

@BarBaraPrz Yes, it flipped a ute (pick-up truck) and damaged a tractor. The driver of the ute had superficial injuries. I'm a bit surprised more people weren't in its path but it seems it was mostly trees and fencing that got damaged.

There is probably a lot of smoke in the air from the wildfires.

@BarBaraPrz We had an air quality alert yesterday. It was hot and a bit humid to add to it.
