I had the last laugh in the end after this morning's fiasco

Well not really but I'm considering it a win. As I wrote this morning I got pulled over by a cop on my way to work because he was just scanning plates (is that even legal?) and I pinged as having an expired registration. I truly thought that I had renewed it but apparently not. What is crazy though is that I can't find the renewal form anywhere where I keep my documents. It has vanished. So strange. Whatever. Fine. So he asks for my documents which I fished out and then I asked him if I could just call work to let them know that I would be late. He said "of course". The secretary was frantic for 1st period coverages and asked how long it would take and I was like "I have absolutely no idea". The cop asked me if I had any points on my license and I was all "yes" and he asked what they were for so I told him. He told me to keep looking for the registration and just wave it out the window so he could get it from the passenger side for his and my safety. I couldn't find anything so I summoned the backup cop who relayed the message that I didn't have anything newer than Feb. In the meantime I texted my ex who uses the same highway to get to work and told him to wave as he drove by as I was pulled over. He immediately asked if I was okay. I couldn't get back to him right away because then the original officer showed up and said that he was just giving me a ticket for an unregistered vehicle since I was polite and honest and obviously didn't need more points on my license. I made it to work in the nick of time to cover the 1st period class and then obviously the 5th period one. That plus the hour of tutoring today (1 kid is postponing) earned me more than enough to cover both the cost of the renewal and the ticket. I'm actually still $31 ahead. I'll take that as a win.

It's a good thing you got a nice cop. Now you'll be all legal again.

I'd take it as a win too. Much better than the alternative.

I’m still sorry that you have to “donate” your money to the NJ department of we want more.

Glad you finally got to work but I can imagine how frustrating all that was, And good for you still being ahead of the game,

Any win is a win. A win is better than a loss
