My new Hat

June 6, 2025 7:06pm CST
My New Hat. Yes folks, the triangular thing in the picture is my new hat. It's not the finished article yet but it's come along very nicely and will be finished as soon as I find a lace and make holes in it and put the lace though the holes. The lace ties up will keep my hat on my head. It's the first hat I have ever made before. Yvonne says because it's made of paper that rain might ruin it or wind might make it tear when it blows off of my head. But I told her not to worry as I borrowed lots of these things I made my hat from at.McDonalds.today, along with 10 milk sachets, some stick stirrers and some sugar both white and brown. I have been using the stick stirrers to practise my chop stick skills. And I look great doing it with my new hat on. Do you like my hat,

Well, if it stays on your head, I suppose we can call it "a hat".

This is impressive work. @moffittjc and I would like to formally invite you to join our Annual New Year’s Eve Hat Competition. We think you’ve got what it takes, you clearly have a passion for hat-constructing and this is what we attempt to do every year. We also get super-excited if we can even find other members to join in. Usually we choose a theme, but I’m thinking.. why not just build off this model right here? Jeff will most likely add something Disney-themed if I know him, I will probably just glam it up with sparkles and New Year’s Eve decor, and Jim, you can just leave it as is. Or add on! Then we all take pics wearing our hats, as always, and really nobody wins or loses. We’ve never really had a judge, come to think of it. We just do it. You interested? No pressure. You have allll the way to Dec. 31st to decide. Either way, great work.

@Ineeddentures We want you to join in! We’re gonna copy right off your model here. (If you don’t mind.) Just add some New Yr’s Eve stuff to it and you’re good to go. Just brainstorm until Christmas. That’s what I’m gonna do. Let me know if you’d like to see some examples from past competitions. I may still have a few hat pics I’ve designed (from scratch!) on my old computer. You’ll see how this event works. It is F-U-N

You need a hat for when you get caught in rain again! Maybe paper isn't the way to go. You should listen to Yvonne!! You know we, women are always right! Ha!

@Ineeddentures You could make a hat with an old garment.

Well it sat on my head!! It covered my big bald patch And it will, when it is finished being assembled, tie up under my chin and I will look really cute

How soon until you go into full production? I might want to order a few of those hats, assuming I can afford them after tariffs.

@Ineeddentures Do you give discounts for buying in bulk? I was thinking about ordering 500 of them. And yes, they would probably be tariff-free if you shopped them directly to me.

@moffittjc Better still Go into McDonalds and do what I did Take them

I think I could sneak the base product to you in quantities of 100 and you could design your own. Yvonne said why don't we just use them as toilet paper. Tarrifs free I would think if posted direct to you

Well thanks Heather. I thought I might sell them.online and start a trend. Imagine people walking around with that on their heads, tied on with string These are a few of my favourite things..

You would fit right in with the very young children. You also have stirred up a memory of a Ladies' group where we twisted a molded newspaper into a fancy hat for tea.

@GardenGerty It's strange but the school always asked me to go on the trips the nursery school kids went on because the kids thought I was funny Neighbours here basically told the kids go play with Jim in the garden , so I built them a playpark basically. Am I childish ? Or childlike?

Looks like a DIY project. Paper hat may not last long though. You need not make holes. Just stick the ribbon with gum We get what is called FEVI QUICK

I was intending just poking holes in it. This paper is robust, it's a napkin from McDonalds and I have previously used them as toilet paper

@wolfgirl569 Quite possibly. I have drawn a diagram on a piece of paper instructing Yvonne where to make the holes. I hope she does it right or I will have to fold another napkin

Yes it is Eva. And have you seen the number of people who actually doubt it will function as a hat. One says I need a punch to punch a hole in it for a ribbon to tie it to my head I need strong and a pen

@Traceyjayne My next project is complicated It's a gazebo Made from the wooden stirrers and the same napkins the hat is made from

I h ave folded the square napkin in half to form them triangle. Now the paper must remain like that until I make a tie for it to secure to the head. Then it will be ready It does not fit me but that does not matter. It would fit a small child like person or maybe a wee doll
