A Day at the Hollywood

My wife and her cousin Lorie are still in town, leaving today for their gambling trip in Oak Grove, Kentucky. We wanted to spend some time around the pool but it turned out to be a cool and rainy day, so it was decided we'd pick up my mom and spend a few hours at the Hollywood Casino about an hour away. I grabbed $200 and gave $100 to wifey and kept $100 for myself. No one really won anything, and unfortunately wifey and I didn't even break even. Together we wound up down $90. It is what it is. As I always say, gambling is not something you ever expect to make any gains from, although it would be nice if we could. Afterward we went back home, and I made hamburgers on the grill and we had coleslaw and a macaroni salad on the side before I dropped my mom off back at home. Regardless of the gambling outcome, we all had a great time, so that's really all that counts. And mom got some extra stimuli as well. She was up $3 by the way. We told her she got a big win. lol

It was all worth it since you had fun and got to spend quality time with your family.

That is a good way of looking at it. And hey, we only dropped 45% of what we brought...that's under 50, so I'd call that a win. lol

I am a true Scotsman I would be devastated at being down 90. As long as you enjoyed it, that's the main thing I suppose Glad Mom got.a big win.

You take the wins with the losses. Mathematically, however, the losses outweigh the wins so far. lol

You could easily spend $90 on other entertainment so you didn't do too badly.

Right. And that's what I count it as. Entertainment. Fairly cheap, all things considered. And we had a great time.

@porwest I meant that out of all the $ you allotted for gambling you didn’t lose all of it in the end. You were down $90 instead of $200.

That is all that matters. We took our first family cruise and had a blast, even though my boys and the boys went into the arcade and kept swiping the card to play the games because we kept winning. Gambling-wise, I think I made 7 bucks, and that was it, lol.

I have never had much luck with gambling either. The most I ever won was at one of the casinos on Fremont Street in Vegas. I walked away with $400.

One of my husband's cousins used to pay for every Vegas trip by playing roulette.

That would be sweet. I never have any major luck if I ever play roulette. Although I typically only ever play backs and reds if I do.
