These look out of place

We stayed at a B&B on Saturday night and I took this photo of a tree that was in the yard. I don’t know what sort of tree it was although it didn’t look like anything exotic.
However, the patch of leaves you see was very strange and didn’t seem to ‘belong’. Sometimes, if leaves get sprayed with a pesticide they can grow in an odd manner.
I wish I’d thought to ask the owner if she knew anything about it.

Out of curiosity i tried googling the picture an this came out.
The plant in the image is likely a Fukien Tea Tree, also known as Carmona retusa or Philippine Tea Tree (Ehretia microphylla).
It is a subtropical evergreen shrub native to parts of Asia and Australia, known for its small, shiny green leaves and white flowers.
The plant produces small, round fruits that are green when immature and turn red to brownish-orange when ripe.
While the fruit is sometimes consumed raw, and the leaves can be used to make a tea substitute, it's important to note that the Fukien Tea Tree is considered toxic and should not be consumed due to potential health risks.
This species is commonly used for bonsai due to its delicate leaves and branches.
In the Philippines, it's a popular ornamental plant, but it can be considered an invasive weed in some areas like Hawaii.
Was surprise it came from my country and am nit familiar with it as well.

I searched the Net and what you see as patch of leaves are actually fruits. I have that tree and the fruits are known as star fruit

@JudyEv I copied your photo and searched. And that is what I got. Those fruits I see are placed exactly where those leaves are Every Site said it was the star fruit tree.

Not sure if I have ever seen anything like that either. I have no idea what kind of tree that is. As for bed and breakfasts, I have never stayed at one of those. We've done mostly hotels and the occasional Air BNB, but never a bed and breakfast. And of course, we use the camper.

@JudyEv Well, they look perfectly healthy so I guess they are quite content where they are.

May be different Plants and Trees were seeded together and then we got this mix.
However, someone more knowledgeable there could tell in a bigger detail.
Was the B&B crowded when you stayed?

They said they are full each weekend but we only saw one other couple there. There are four cottages in all.

Oh I didn't know that. Yes, you could have told the owner about it. She must be unaware.
