At last!

We finally got our car back! After ten and a half weeks!!
We took it for its annual MOT test (ministry of transport roadworthiness check) in late March and didn’t get it back until the start of June.
Honestly I’ve never heard of anything like it, and it certainly wasn’t convenient, but it did have certain benefits – the use of the garage van was quite fun, and trying their electric car was a new experience for me.
I was afraid that if they charged us for all the labour, plus the money they spent on spare parts (£1,100 apparently) then by this time we would have to sell the house! But thankfully they didn’t, they have footed the bill since the car was working when we took it there and it wasn’t working when they told me it was ready to pick up.
The downside is that after all this time and effort, the problem they noted – a warning light on the dashboard – is still on and after everything they have tried, as well as getting help from specialist electricians and consulting the manufacturer, they can’t get it to go off and now that the car will actually start and run as normal they are afraid to try anything else in case the whole problem kicks off all over again!
So next year when the MOT test comes around we will have the exact same situation all over again.
It looks as though we need to buy another car in the next nine months or so.

It's good to see you again. What a major pain with the car!!! Maybe a new car IS the answer. Good luck.

I see delays in everything we take up and it can be quite annoying. Atleast you had some benefit by that delay.

Sometimes that's just how it is. As long as it works don't worry about the light.

It took so long to do the annual MOT test ! The problem with the warning light on the dashboard was a blessing in disguise-they footed the bill .

Wow! I'm glad you got your car back but... that's a LONG time to wait for them to get done playing with it.
Our car was out of commission for a little longer than that but when we got it back, it runs like a new car. But we did have to pay for the parts and labor... $1,700. Luckily, we could pay it. (We thought we'd have to buy a new one but, this one is good for years again.)
I hope you find a new car you like as well as the car you have now.
