Sorry about the delay. We had some breaking news here in town: a semi caught fire and fell off the interstate onto the road below. Believe it or not, no injuries! Thank God for that! Now, as the rain falls, we move from the folk of yesterday to a pretty jazzy tune for our moon song.
Moondance - Van Morrison
Van Morrison once said that Frank Sinatra "wouldn't be out of place singing that." And you know, he's correct! This is about as jazzy as you can get in rock and roll (and not be Steely Dan 
).
It's interesting that this song was released as a single in 1977. Why? Because the album was released in 1970. A little delayed reaction there, wouldn't you say? 
The song, and the entire album, had been FM album rock staples for years, so I don't really know why it was released as a single...except maybe there were four people who'd never heard the song on FM rock radio before.
I love this entire album. While "Moondance" isn't my favorite song, it's a sweet balance between songs like "Caravan" and "And It Stoned Me."

Should have used this one instead of Gloria on my one-word titled songs. Great pick! The song did not chart in the Top 40, why I don't know, but maybe the reason for it being a late bloomer on FM radio play.

I remember this being played in a scene from An American Werewolf in London, with the beautiful Jenny Agutter. At least I think I do. I’ve tried to find a YouTube link, but can’t find one? I’ve always been in love with her.

They said "minor injuries" on one station. Regardless, despite the fact that the cab caught fire and dangled "head first" before falling off the ramp, the driver is alive.
Glad you like the song. This is probably my favorite Van Morrison album.

Right with you. I love that entire album. I told a friend if someone offered me a million dollars to never listen to that album again I’d just laugh at them.
