Going for a little drive next week

Oh my. Bring it on. The little Mennonite store just emailed me news: dark red cherries are ripe East of the mountains. The store drives over and picks up fruit and hauls it over to my corner. 2 dollars a pound if I buy 18 pounds. We gobble fresh cherries plus I make a pie before we bag some for later.
We just are finishing local strawberries. We put five quarts of strawberries in the freezer- might take a quart out on Christmas Eve.

Can I ask what a Mennonite Store is?
18 pounds is a lot of cherries but hey ho Cherry Pie is one of Americas best inventions.
What does 5 quarts of Strawberries equate to in pounds.
When you froze them did you put them on a tray individually lined up and freeze them?

@Ineeddentures I am a freezer slob. I wash the berries and slice them then dump them into baggies. Probably 12 ounces of berries to a quart- guessing. The store is run by a religious group called Mennonites. Have you heard of the Amish? They're old fashioned religious simple people- some use machines, some only use horses. Their dress is simpler- women might wear a headdress-bonnet; they might have handsewn clothes and maybe buttons versus zippers.

Oh Yes I have heard of Amish and in the 70s we had an Amish girl in our class at shool.
She had ran away with her mother and come to Scotland
She was a nice girl. So was her mum.
But her mum went nuts when I asked the girl out.
