Scientists find that the chin is the most unique of humans features. They are unsure why the chin evolved, but it might be related to chewing mechanics or speech. Even our closest genetic cousins, the gorilla's and chimpanzees, lack chins. Many animals have thumbs, knuckles, and ankles, but no chins.

Can you imagine human ancestors looking at the first baby born with a chin and saying something like "Alice, that didn't come from MY side of the family!"

That’s something new I’ve learnt. A chin is an essential part of a snooker or pool player. Without it the cueing action would be all over the place.
