Were LA Rioters Whipping Horses and Shooting at National Guard Members Yesterday?

I am ticked off. As a horse, I am powerful, but also gentle. I am an herbivore. I just want to eat grass, to mate occasionally, and not be eaten by a carnivore. This morning, I saw something upsetting on my YouTube feed. Feed. I'll be right back. OK, I am happy now. I saw a report from a guy about how the protests in Los Angeles California were peaceful. I saw protesters chanting. I saw National Guard troops standing by, but not being aggressive. Suddenly, something happened. Horses were moving toward the protesters. The reporter had to flee. I could not tell if people were being trampled by the horses, but the situation looked chaotic. They (the horses) were moving forward. Then I heard gun shots ring out. Were rioters beating the horses and shooting at the National Guard and the Marines? I do not know. I will look for further reports later this evening. I question the wisdom of having people on horseback doing riot control. But if protesters were attacking horses, and shooting at the National Guard, that would make me mad too. What is your take on what happened?

They still use horses here from time to time but the horses now have face-guards and part of the reins may be chain so they can't be cut. Do you have any newspapers that you trust to be unbiased and to just give the facts?

We have the NYT and the Washington Post. But I tend to watch what's online. The Times of India is actually pretty balanced. So is an Australian news outlet, but I cannot remember the name.

@TheHorse Thanks. You hear so much that is pretty unbelievable that you end up not knowing what's fact and what's fiction.

@JudyEv If it turns out that protesters attacked horses, I will be ticked off. But my hunch is that's not what happened.

If the National guard had backed off I think it would have been better. LAPD had it nearly handled.

Heh. If Trump wants to incite violence, I wish he would do so at Mar-a-Largo. I just want to work, shop, and eat.

I don't know. I can't find any believable reports on what happened. It all looks like sensationalized bullcrap. I saw one report that protesters were being trampled by police horses after a protester touched a horse ridden by a police officer. The police officer then used her baton to beat the protester over the head "protecting" her horse... I can't believe what I'm reading... We know the "rioting" wasn't rioting in earlier reports. Nothing was happening in most of L.A. but the reports were all over the place. I agree, the police shouldn't be riding horses at a peaceful protest or in a rioting populace. The horses could panic and couldn't be controlled.

@TheHorse True, but I know horses won't step on a human unless they're forced to do it by the human riding them. The horse might accidentally step on a human foot but that's because the horse can't see them when the human sticks a foot under the horse.

I don't know what happened; so I can't really comment; but you're right about no horses in a situation such as that.
