Airline flew passengers luggages while passengers remain stranded

June 17, 2025 1:36am CST
This is one of the funniest news I have read recently. It happened in Nigeria that an airline flew some passengers luggages to their destination where their owners remained stranded at the airport. Could this be a deliberate thing or an accident. It seems there will be lots of legal issues against the airline in the coming days.

Did you know in the United States there is a store with lost and unclaimed luggage that is sold to whomever visits said store? Can you imagine someone buying something of yours without your knowledge? Sure, passengers are compensated to make up for the loss, but still…

Amber is correct,. there is a huge store in Alabama for ''lost'' luggage. Supposedly, all airlines are to try for three weeks to find the owner of the suitcase, if they don't, they sell the luggage pieces to this lost luggage place. It is recommended (and I always follow this!) that you put a piece of paper in your luggage, and possibly anchor the paper to the lining of the suitcase. I actually make two of these, I anchor one inside and leave it there all the time, it's ready to go. Another one I write my address again, where I am going, and my own personal phone number as well as a contact number of where I am going--aka, a family member, friend, whoever. It actually saved me from total suitcase loss at one point, and I got it back after about 10 days. I would have to recommend everyone do this.

@MarieCoyle wow, thats interesting but one can be called a thief for buying such, except the owners dont claim them.

The same as what happened to @MarieCoyle happened to us many times, We also had to wait 4 days for our luggage once. No it's not deliberate only very bad customers service.

@ogbenishyna44 I needed a lot of things in the luggage, we bought and Delta Airline paid for that.

4 days of waiting? Damn! What if you need something in the luggage for emergencies?

That's going to be a tough issue that they need to settle. I can't imagine the anger of the passengers. Hope they are all fine, and I hope none of the employees involved lose their jobs, but I hope this will be a learning situation for them.

Well, someone has to be punished for that crime.

Surely it would have to be an accident. I can't see any reason for deliberately doing this.

I have arrived more times than I can say at my destination and my luggage ended up across the country. It isn’t fun, you have nothing, and you may never see it again. And often when you do finally get it, your suitcase is shattered. I just don’t see the humor somehow.

@ogbenishyna44 It happens to many people who fly. The airlines are just not always very careful with luggage.
