As I am posting my Mom is watching the news ....there has just been an article on there saying that in Shropshire.....a local place....there are now 65 chickens per person. I am not taking too much notice and I don't know if it is something to be celebrated or worried about. The final comment of the reporter was " the council are invloved ". ooh eerrr !

In Miami, Florida, they have a section of animal control dedicated to solely rounding up the rogue chickens. I like your story better though!

thank you x I love the idea of rogue chickens . I didn't hear in the report if the chickens were on a farm etc or just running wild .... now I can't stop thinking of chicken running wild, in streets, schools, supermarkets ....

I don't really understand this. Are they talking about individual houses having too many chickens?

I think they just mean that chickens out number people by 65 - 1 in that town. Not sure if it's particularly a farm area.

We're allowed to have up to six hens (roosters are prohibited in the city limits) and two ducks on our property. The chickens (and ducks) must have three feet per bird in cages and have access to an outdoor area that is fenced so they can't roam freely. One of my SIL used to keep/raise chickens in her yard and was always getting cited when the chickens escaped. I wouldn't have wanted to live next to her. Chickens stink...

@Traceyjayne As long as they have good fences with tight mesh wire, the chickens should be safe. I haven't seen foxes around here but I know there are some in the woods, along with bears and mountain lions... We're always careful when we go into the woods here.

My friends family used to keep chickens which as they lived close to a woods with foxes I never thought it was a wise idea but it seemed to work for them.
