Happy Juneteenth; This recently added holiday makes federal workers happy I am sure. It reflects the liberation of the slaves, a happy day indeed. For most of us it is just another day banks are closed and the mail doesn't run.

Slavery has existed in all parts of the world way before the United States. They make way too big of a deal about it. Was it wrong? Of course it was. But to make it a "holiday" is a bit of a stretch.

I don't think so, but it would make more sense to celebrate the real Emancipation Proclamation.

I forgot about this Federal holiday, but not all stats have recognized it.

They kind of have to because the mail doesn't run. Federal buildings aren't open etc

@snowy22315 Only 30 states recognize it, but I do not know which states do not recognize it.

I am sure it won't be a holiday next year.

Why do you think that? Trump has other things in his agenda like screwing up our country, and the world

I don't get it as a federal holiday. I'm sure Trump will rescind it like tomorrow. "Juneteenth" was when the last part of southern Texas slaves learned that the Civil War was over and they were free.

Yeah, we were suppose to have been paid, but the banks are closed. It was a day late to begin with, now an extra day wait!!! Urgh!!!
