Slavery has existed in all parts of the world way before the United States. They make way too big of a deal about it. Was it wrong? Of course it was. But to make it a "holiday" is a bit of a stretch.

I don't think so, but it would make more sense to celebrate the real Emancipation Proclamation.

They kind of have to because the mail doesn't run. Federal buildings aren't open etc

Yeah, we were suppose to have been paid, but the banks are closed. It was a day late to begin with, now an extra day wait!!! Urgh!!!
