Let's Leave Flying to the Birds

Even though things worked out in favor of the passengers a Ryanair plane crashed into a barrier on the runway landing from London at a Greek airport. Then passengers were finally disembarked, the plane inspected, and left in service. Excuse me were I on that plane I would not fly further or if necessary hitch a boat to home. The Boeing 737, travelling from London Stansted to Kalamata on Wednesday, suffered "severe turbulence" on the way to the city in southern Greece. And after it landed safely, passengers heard a "loud banging sound" as the aircraft hit a fence.

I haven’t flown in 25 years, but this year I’ll be flying a total of four times. I don’t want to, but I’m not the one in charge of the trips or money.

@rasmasandra And this is the airline that wanted to charge for using the toilet!! I’ve flown Ryanair a few times but never again.

@xFiacre most people switched to that airline because they offered lower prices but looks like not good quality,

@RasmaSandra Oh they wouldn’t know quality if it hit them in the face. Maximum profit for minimum investment. Just like the airline I flew home with from France yesterday.

Air travel continues to be THE absolute safest form of transportation. And it's by a LARGE margin, by the way.

@porwest just one more thing if I get in an accident on a train, a car, in a ship well I could drown but on the ground I have a better chance of survival than if I splat down from the sky,

@RasmaSandra Look at the stats. Don't take my word for it. It's the absolute safest mode of travel on the planet.

In my present age, I haven't ever flown on an airplane It's too costly. I just take transport by land or by sea.

@RasmaSandra That's good idea. But airplane is the common means of transportation in your place.

I've never flown commercially and, after all the odd mishaps this year, am particularly happy about that!

@RasmaSandra I had fun flying with my friend at the controls when I was 18 and he took me up in a single engine plane. I wasn't happy with the helicopter ride I paid for when Pretty was around 4 years old... That pilot sucked and I let him know that as soon as he landed and we could get out of the helicopter!
