This is one of the big debates at the moment, due to the heat...and it is set to get even hotter.
This debate is even on the news today.
Postmen, I have noticed wear shorts everyday, whatever the weather.
I think if you are a high powered businessman you probably shouldn't wear shorts in top meetings .....business has to be taken seriously and that may not be possible if you are sitting across the boardroom table from the knobblyist knees in the universe !
Otherwise. I can't see much of a problem really, as long, as if you work with others, your shorts are in good taste.

I never worked a job where shorts were allowed. As a sales clerk, it wouldn't be considered appropriate to help customers while wearing shorts.

Do you have unslightly legs .... knobbly knees ....
would it have put your customers off buying if they saw your hairy lallies .....
Sorry , that was a bit of fun ..... For some jobs it would not make for a professional look to be wearing shorts .....

@Traceyjayne No, I have shapely legs. I used to be a body builder and, while I'm heavy set now, my legs still look good, if rather hairy.
I used to get compliments on my legs all the time.
You're fine...

It would be nice but doesn't look professional

There are situations and occupations where it would be okay and others where it would not be. When I worked in factories, for example, it was inappropriate even for safety reasons. Incidentally, I have never worked a job where I wore shorts to work.

I can understand for safety reason, of course that is different.

Salespersons use to wear shorts at work whenever I see them to the supermarket. In face to face volunteering or in social works jobs , wearing shorts is not allowed , they want you to wear shirt and pants.
