Day Two of the heat wave. My AC was struggling yesterday; it never does well in temperature extremes so I will bring my big tower fan out here. That should help keep things cool. I went swimming last night, that was great as a cool off. I was cool and wet the rest of the night. However, I probably won't go again until Tuesday night, when the water probably won't be as pleasant. It is warm under normal circumstances and if it is baking in the sun, it just gets too hot..and is a bit like swimming in a warm bath or hot tub. It reminds me of the first time I went swimming in the Gulf of Mexico in June. It was like swimming in a bathtub. Everybody stay cool out there.

It probably will. The tower fan I have is very good. I used it last night in the bedroom, I will probably be moving it back and forth.

@snowy22315 I have one of those, but I’m trying to sell it.
It’s never been opened even though I bought it 2 years ago.

@AmbiePam This one is a pretty big tower. Why don't you use it?
Does it stay really cool in your apt.?

Hot tubs are nice, I like warmish ocean water..but not like swimming in a bath tub. I predict if I do go swimming again Tuesday night, which I may..it will be like that or close to it.

You might consider buying a window AC unit and using it to help your big AC unit... I'd hate your main unit to struggle too hard and go out in this heat.
Several years ago our AC stopped working over 4th of July weekend. Our landlady refused to get it checked because she didn't want to pay weekend rates to the electrician. We spent two nights sleeping on the concrete floor of our front porch to stay cool enough.
After the electrician fixed the fuse in the AC unit, we remembered we had a window AC we brought from the last house we lived in.
We could have hooked it up and still had some AC in the house.

Pass, Thank you anyway. I have something I can use here in the advent of an emergency. Plus I have good fans. I think window units look tacky anyway, not a fan.

I can't wait until we get some thunderstorms to hopefully knock this heat back a bit.

Hope you're staying as cool as you can with this horrible heat. Swimming sounds so good and it brings back so many memories of summers I spend at the pool or beach. Haven't been swimming in years though and sometimes I miss it.

You should go. It would be great for your knees. It's good for your entire body

@snowy22315 There's nowhere nearby to swim. We don't have a public pool (nor one in my community) and the beach is hours away. Who knows, maybe one day I'll spend a few days at the Jersey shore.

I am in Arizona and in my own place for the first time in 13 years. My bill for June is already quite high. Luckily our first 2 months of rent was free. My husband and I seemed to have switched bodies. He used to be cold all the time and I used to be hot. Now he has the A/C at 68. LIKE WHAT?

There is always one who wants one temp and the other that seems to be the opposite.

My mother has been using one of the box fans. I hope the power bill is not high.

Everyone is complaining about the heat. It will continue for several days. It couldn't be in the 70s and pleasant....oh no. Global warming I'm sure has something to do with this. Stay cool and hydrated.
