Deadheading For More Blooms

Many people have lovely gardens this time of year. All types of flowers in bloom. But, after the bloom the flower wilts, browns and dies away. There are five flowers which can be revitalized by deadheading them periodically. Just snipping those dead and browning blooms off can do so much good for these flowers: Salvia-- A beautiful perennial that by removing the 'spent' flowers will help bring on some new ones. Roses-- June and roses. It's that time for them to bloom and deadheading makes the bush look fuller and more attractive. Daylilies-- One of the real favorites and the more the merrier, I think. Deadheading these will encourage prolonged bloom time. Geraniums-- This annual does require deadheading. Without it blooms will be few and far between. Petunias-- Long lasting and often need a little reshaping to keep the plant compact and healthy. It takes just a few minutes to snip off the spent blooms and let new growth come out. About once a week or so is sufficient.

I have azalea, hosta, lilac and a few others that I can't identify. Thanks for the tips.

I love the lilacs. They don't last long enough.

Lovely. Photos are so nice to have. Memories are captured and we can look back over them and share our wonders with others.

I have a sunflower variant that produces multiple blooms at a time out on the landing. I deadheaded it yesterday.
