Idly thinking

Tomorrow the painter Dad and son are coming over to first have me sign papers then powerwash the house. What papers? Papers legally binding me into the color that they will put on the house. NO backing out. Hey, Lady, right here, here on this paper you signed your name to say YES to purple for your house's exterior with gold trim. You did it. We delivered. Other thought but I have a year to thunk this out: what is Phoenix, Arizona like? Which motel is decent? Phoenix is the nearest city to daughter so we may fly there in about a year. First of all, I asked how long is daughter planning to stay with us? You bet. I am an expert at starting a family fight. I wait for her answer. Next year will be four years since we have visited with daughter in person. Going to Phoenix means a long, pricey taxi ride to the airport and then the fare price and the motel. Maybe a tour through the Sonoran desert. How long will you spend with us, daughter? Got to love a family battle.

I have a question and it's not my business... but still something you should consider. Does your city have any laws/ordinances about the color you paint your house? I know some people won't like a color that isn't cream, white or blue on a house. They claim it will drop their own property values. I hope everything goes well with your daughter.

@DaddyEvil You are not bothering or offending me. Good question. This little town does have city snoops driving around. No on house colors. I have seen a lovely deep gray with bright red trim. You are right: people do squawk about property values. Gads on houses only being cream, white, or blue. Sage green really bugs me cause to me it looks like an Army barracks. I hope this answers you. Keep peppering me with interesting questions.

@sallypup I'm glad there's nothing like that in your city. There was a house a couple of blocks from ours that was painted a hideous bright pink with yellow trim... Apparently, someone in the city government here didn't like it and they (a Latino family) were told to change it... It was very odd, in my opinion.

@DaddyEvil That could be considered racist. Some people really like pink. Have you seen photos of New Orleans houses? Some of those houses were vibrantly colored.

Have you got like a photo of a house with the colours you are getting your house done in. Phoenix Arizona, seen it on the telly and it looks like a cool place

@Ineeddentures I kind of have seen photos like what I am after. Its hard cause I have not found too many houses similar to mine and I find it hard to imagine what such a house will look like purple and gold.

@Ineeddentures Thanks. Have you seen photos of "the painted ladies" houses in San Francisco? Lovely all colors Victorians. Much fancier than my place but for sure dolled in delightful colors.

@AmbiePam The older I get the more I feel the lack of nearby family. Daughter answered. She is willing to be with us for three days. Hubby doesn't want more than that, either. I have lots of back stuff to do before we can go: got to figure who will come care for the fur kids for one thing.

On their part, I'm sure it's a good idea to get customers sign for the colours they want. It probably saves quite a few hassles. Good luck with planning your trip.

@sallypup It's hot and dry and a desert. The day we were there it was 110. Don't let anyone tell you that it's a dry heat and it's not so bad. It was like an oven.

@LindaOHio Daughter has warned us to visit only in certain months. It looks like October would be best- not only the heat but the monsoons are an issue.
