While we’ve been travelling, we visited a car museum in York. That’s York in Western Australia, not the one in England.
In the photo is a Ford Model T Torpedo Runabout. This was found in a very run-down condition in outback Australia.
At one time, seven out of eight cars in Western Australia were Model T Fords. Even stations in the isolated areas had one of these. The comparatively rare Torpedo-bodied model was only built between 1910 and 1911.
The notice attached to the exhibit stated that the only colour available was black. This was because it was the only colour that would dry quickly enough to all to production line to continue without interruption. Black was the standard colour from 1914 to 1926 when duco paint began to be used.
Henry Ford perfected production lines, mass production and casting techniques. He also paid his workers more in the belief that they’d spend their money on his cars. Each year, the price of the Model T came down due to economies of scale. He sounds like a very clever businessman.

I think Henry Ford once joked, "You can have our cars in any color you'd like so long as it's black." lol. Love Ford's though, and that one's a beauty. I drive Fords and have owned Ford stock for decades. Great company, great cars and great history.

@JudyEv Can you imagine a modern car looking like that? The engine part would be the trunk (boot) now and the motor would be in the back like in a VW Bug...

Ford Motors made a big name in its heydays.
I even read that it was the Ford cars that made cars affordable for many Americans and looks something similar in Australia as well.
Torpedo sounds like an interesting name for a car model.
May be those were around the years of big wars so the name would have gained more traction.
One of the big Indian Businessman of early years after Independence was compared to Henry Ford, so he too has a big big legacy.

Maybe it went faster than other cars of the time? Oh, say, 25 or 30 mph?

@BarBaraPrz The notice said it was the 'sexiest' model and very prestigious.

@JudyEv You're very welcome. Will there be many soups to choose from?
