For Endoscopy.

We are waiting for a schedule for the removal of getting my nephew's gall bladder. But no. Again, the doctor informed us yesterday that they're going to perform endoscopy first. The doctor informed us that they are suspecting some gall stones to be out of the gall bladder and if they just remove the gall bladder and the other stones will remain somewhere in my nephew's tummy, it will cause another problem in the near future. And I thought the MRI with contrast will see those stones more as they told us. Apparently, they need more diagnostic procedure.

Have you had a second opinion at this point? The poor little guy has been through so much.

He is admitted at the hospital. Going for second opinion is not possible right now

Is there any possibility they are ordering all these tests to make money off of you guys? I genuinely don’t know; I’ve just never in my life heard of all these tests for the sake of a gallbladder. I’m not normally a suspicious person, but wow.

@DaddyEvil My sister and late mother had theirs out 20 something years ago. Even then it didn’t take all these tests.

I am thinking of that too. But I searched for the procedure that they will do, which is called ECRP. It is both a diagnostic and a therapeutic procedure; they are going to look into the common bile duct, which is the tube that connects the liver, gall bladder and other organs if there are stones there too other than the gall bladder. I only heard of this procedure now.

You're talking major surgery here. Naturally, this would require many tests to ensure the right one is being performed.

that is true. This is the first time I heard of this. Probably because most of the removal of gallbladder procedures I encountered were much easier and not this complicated

No. They will see if the stones are dislodged in common duct but they weren't

@rakski I haven't ever heard of having an endoscopy before gallstone surgery before. Seems odd to me, but I'm not a doctor, so...I hope he can get the surgery very quickly so he can get on the mend!
