Red flags

So my labs came back for the clinical trial, and there is an elevated enzyme that is of concern and it disqualifies me for the trial. We will be going to pick up my labs and take them to my primary care doctor, because the study doctor says I need to. I think this may be an early warning to help me not get any sicker, because I do not have any symptoms of what is indicated. So they paid me $110 for coming for the assessment, and they gave me free labs. It is all good of course. We are still waiting to see if Bob's paperwork loads like it should. Thunderstorms in the night last night, although there were still fireworks in between. I am going to get dressed now so we can go pick up the labs.

I hope all this turns out to be a simple fix. It's always worrying not knowing what is going on.

Simplest fix I can guess is cut way back on fat and sugar, stay hydrated and lose some weight.

@GardenGerty It can be so difficult to do these things. Luckily I'm rarely hungry and don't feel I eat a lot but I'm blowed if I can those few extra kilos off.

I hope your PCP visit turns out to be positive and nothing serious. Keep us posted please.

It will be sometime this next week. The nurse said that the levels may have settled back down even before they called me with the results. Mainly it seems I might otherwise end up with a gall bladder problem. Hope not.

It's good you found out about the enzyme so you could discuss it with your primary.

Yes. What I read said the problem is usually not diagnosed until there are some severe symptoms.

That is a steep price to find out that there is an underlying issue, when your doctor could have ordered the tests for free and came to the same conclusion.

I phrased that wrong. They paid me $110 to come in, do paperwork and get the lab tests. They even paid for the lab tests. I am going to go back and edit this.

I really hope there was some mistake made in your labs... Good luck with that! I hope Bob's paperwork loads correctly... We had showers last night and are supposed to get storms any time now changing to showers again this afternoon. I hope you have a good day.

In the end the paperwork was a wash out. It was really adding stress and my opinion was that if they cannot get the system to work right for hiring, how can we believe it will work right for reporting tasks or paying him. He does need something to do for his mental health, but this was ruining mine.

The elevated enzyme indicates pancreas problems. Possibly gall stones, possibly worst case pancreatic cancer.

It is a wakeup call to be good about what I eat, and be careful what medications I am given by specialists who want to "help" me. I am blaming the issue on taking the statins for about six months.

I think I am still in the stage that lifestyle adjustments will do me a lot of good.
