It's the lychee season now

Lychee is an unique fruit in my province. Although it may be available in some tropical countries but they are not the same. This year there is a harvest for lychees and therefore the price is very nice. This is why we bought more lychees. How can I describe the tasteful lychees? In Tang Dynasty the lychees were shipped to thousand miles away because an emperor wanted to please his love as she loved eating lychees. I really enjoy eating lychees. They are very juicy and sweet. Even our little turtles enjoy eating lychees

Lychees are okay but not my favorite fruits and I never thought they tasted sweet.

@youless I have only been able to try the ones from our supermarkets. We don't grow lychee in the US.

@LadyDuck I looked up the photos online and you are right. Madagascar lychees look like ours. Perhaps they import the plants to grow there. Since here is far away from Madagascar and it may not be the original place.

@youless - Yes, they are fresh lychees. Those on our shelves usually come from Madagascar, they are identical to those in your photo.

@celticeagle It has a natural fruit flower fragrance. You bite the flesh and it's very juicy and sweet.

My absolute favorite. But it does not last for long, the season is too short. My mom has lychee orchard with around 4000 lychee trees. She does get good money for the harvest.

I absolutely love Lychees. No wonder the little turtles like them. They are quite expensive here as most imported exotic fruits are I'm glad to hear that this year is a good harvest so that they are cheaper for you

As the fresh lychees are hard to keep. Probably they will be delivered by air and it will cost more.

@youless This is very true. But still worth paying for. Even if only buying one or two. We can get them in cans, quite pleasant but not the same as fresh

@Ineeddentures I wish one day you can try the fresh lychees. They taste wonderful because of a nice natural fragrance. But here the cherries and strawberries are usually expensive.
