Holes in the bread slices

We have a bakery closeby. Their brown bread is nice and we get it often The only problem is that the slices have holes and that makes applying anything on them for it to leak out - obviusly a nuisance I have brought it to the notice of the bakerey and hopefully they will do something about it. Another user here also talked about it a while ago.

I think the baker didn't do it in purpose. Unlike donut. There's hole on it.

It is obvious the baker will not sit and put holes in bread slices.

They need to add more dough in the pan before baking. The pan is too big for the quantity they use, so air pockets form due to yeast activity.

@allknowing They surely know. I have a square pan to bake my bread. In the beginning I did not use enough dough and my bread had holes. Now I know how much I need to put inside before closing the lid.

That's interesting. If I make a bread all by the bread machine, then there will be a hole in the bread since this is how they mix the flour to the dough.

@allknowing If I only use the bread machine to make bread and bake it in an oven, then the holes will not be available. If I use the bread machine to bake after the dough is done, then the hole can not be avoided.

But @DE thinks machine will not create holes

Holes like that usually mean it is hand-kneaded. I think the only thing they could do is buy a machine to knead it for them.

@DaddyEvil NO, it's a too large pan and too little dough. The dough has enough space to enlarge and form holes.

Wonder if the flour has too much yeast making the bread expand too much during the baking process

You could be right there. I have brought it to their notice and hopefully that will be corrected.

Good on you for letting the bakery know hopefully they adjust the recipe or baking process. Nice to know others have noticed too they might help push for change!
