Sick of Summer

I don’t know about you, but I am already getting sick of summer. We have been in a heat wave for like 2 weeks now. It has been hot and humid almost every day for 2 weeks. I think we had 2 days where it was decent. Hope you are all doing alright if you too are getting all this hot weather. This morning, we had a good thunderstorm come through, but it didn’t help cool things down already at 11am we are up to 87 and they are saying the high is going to be 97 with high humidity. I think I will be staying indoors with the A/C going. @DaddyEvil mentioned in one of my post last week about drinking pickle juice if you start to get cramps from the heat which if an awesome suggestion that I didn’t mention. I believe any kind of pickle juice would work but I have always used Dill Pickle because I prefer the taste better than others, so I know it works. How or why? I have no idea, but it does, and it helps with overall hydration. I would suggest having some one hand when the weather gets this hot. Take care of yourself and don’t forget to check on family and friends.

Thankfully here in Scotland we don't get many heatwaves. I actually don't envy people in places that have a lot of heatwaves I will pass on the pickle juice though

The highs here have been topping out around 90F but the humidity can kill a person... I'd still rather have the heat than the cold of winter, though. At least with heat, I can still get out and go somewhere if I feel like it. Once it snows, I don't even try to leave the house. I asked a doctor friend about why pickle juice works to stop cramps. He told me it had something to do with stimulating the vagus nerve at the back of the throat. That nerve controls the involuntary systems of the body and stimulating it causes the cramps to relax.

I have always said I like the cold since I can add more clothes, you can only take off so much in public :) well good to know, yeah cause like in 2 minutes those cramps stop when drinking the pickle juice. I'm just glad it works.

@Bensen32 I used to say that, too, before I started taking meds to slow my thyroid down... I used to be so hot all the time that I begged for winter to come... Cramps stop faster than that for me but I'm glad it works for you, too.

In dry season since we've only 2 distinct seasons the other one is of course wet, we drink plenty of water and a calamansi juice.
