Back in the early days of the COVID lockdown I was like everyone else and decided to try making a sourdough starter. I didn't do much research though and the whole thing was a failure. I recently received a copy of The Perfect Loaf which is a baking book all about sourdough so here I go again. I had to get rye flour to get the starter going and it is now on day 4. Today started the twice a day refreshing/feeding. I have a couple more days to go before I can actually use the starter to make bread and when I can start saving the discard for other purposes. We shall see how it goes!

Walmart associates weren't allowed to stay home. We still had to go to work every day and be exposed to the virus... Many people refused to wear masks and a lot of us caught the virus because Walmart NEEDED that money to keep rolling in.

@NJChicaa Walmart wouldn't allow that. We had to be there in person every day.

I rarely eat bread, so this would be a non-starter for me. It sounds like a lot of work, like caring for a particularly needy plant. Good luck!

The author of the book compares it to owning a pet.
